The Long Live GoGo Foundation is proud to launch “Long Live GoGo – Something For The People,” a multimedia public art campaign designed to amplify the legacy, resilience, and cultural power of Washington, DC’s native GoGo music. As an evolving exhibition, the project will unveil a series of artistic components over time—each piece telling a deeper story about the people, places, and rhythms that define DC’s identity.
Rooted in artistic activism, this campaign responds to the urgent threats of gentrification and cultural displacement by reclaiming public space and honoring the city's indigenous sound. GoGo music has long served as the heartbeat of DC and a vehicle for self-expression, organizing, and pride among its native residents. Yet its cultural significance remains underrecognized on the national stage.
“Something For The People” creates space for Washingtonians to control their narrative, celebrate their heritage, and share their truth with wider audiences—reminding the world that GoGo is not just music, but a movement worth preserving.
